Getting ready for Christmas 2013
Okay - so I haven't posted anything for almost a year. No real reason, life has been good. Still flying, junking and creating but also spending lots of time with my sweet grandchildren. The last couple of days have been almost non-stop decorating. Each year I say "this will be my LAST year for doing this much!" but I do love it. Yesterday, I finally put together two wreaths from my stash of vintage ornaments. This one goes in our living room.

Tutus
What is it with little girls and Tutus? My just 2 year old granddaughter loves to stay home all day in her jammies and tutus. I must admit I wouldn't mind having one myself just to twirl around the house all day!

altered book gift
I made another book using the Full Tilt Boogie open spine method taught by Mary Ann Moss. My brother and a friend plan to give this book as a gift to a friend/co-worker. It was both liberating and exciting to create book to be used by someone else but also a little difficult to send it on its way - but I have pictures!
Paper feathers
I haven't posted for a long time - Busy holidays, grand-daughter's 2nd birthday and winter somehow take priority. I did post the paper feathers I made and used in assemblages I made for gifts from vintage books, 1800s Spanish lace and cabinet cards. Somehow??? I deleted the post a few days later so here it is again.

Happy Thanksgiving
It feels like thanksgiving - the harvest is over and fields are bare; shots from deer hunters are heard; skies are grey; there's a definite chill is in the air. I feel like snuggling in for a long winter's nap!

witch from the past
I found this picture of me in one of my favorite halloween costumes. I loved planning my halloween costume - usually from an array of vintage clothes in the old hump-backed trunk - it was easy to put together a credible costume. I remember being a gypsy dressed in a colorful skirt and off-the-shoulder blouse, a scarf wrapped around my head, and tons of costume jewelry. I couldn't wait for the halloween party at school where each class paraded around the "old" gym and were judged for the best costume. I don't think I ever won a prize but there were free handouts and cake walks and lots of fun.
Trick or treating was another thrill. Groups of trick or treaters freely roamed the whole small town - we'd dare each other to run up on porches where we knew we would not get treats and might even get yelled at. There were plenty of other houses to go to where we got lots of homemade and store-bought treats which of course we started eating and trading before we got home.

Spooky
Received these wonderful old wood press letters in the mail today
from Scotland - I really like them displayed in front of my
vintage cat and moon diecut.

Halloween
I love this time of year but it's going too fast.
Halloween and fall decorations are my favorite.
I really like my bare branch tree that I can change
with the seasons. Vintage halloween is the hottest
holiday collectible. I have sold a lot of my
collection but kept my black cats.
